Book two in the Triple Diamond series

When it comes to the two very tempting search-and-rescue survivalists, Lily Hollis is all about getting in touch with nature…

Five years have passed since her fiancé’s death and Lily Hollis has had enough. She’s done with the self-pity and the guilt and putting the brakes on her own life. She’s going to visit her sister, Madison, in Wolf Creek, Montana and she’s going to finish her master’s research, finally graduating, like she never did all those years ago.

But Wolf Creek holds temptation, specifically in the form of the very sexy, very dangerous Dec McCormick and Micah Ellison, two search-and-rescue specialists who run a survival camp near her sister’s ranch. When they suggest she stay with them to complete her fieldwork, Lily is shocked to find herself agreeing. After all, she hasn’t wanted a man in a very long time and now she finds herself wanting two.

Which is…complicated. Because, while some of the folks in Wolf Creek don’t mind unorthodox relationships, Dec and Micah are clear from the start that it doesn’t appeal to them. It’s a shame Lily’s fool heart can’t seem to get the idea, because the more time she spends with the two men, the more she finds herself caring—that is, until one damning question could bring everything to a crashing halt.

Lily knows deep down that there’s more to whatever’s between them, but the question is, can she ever get Dec and Micah to believe it—and what might the future hold if they do?

“Micah,” she squeaked and looked up to meet his eyes. “I don’t think I’m the dangerous one here at all.”.png“You’ve got to stop looking at me like that, honey. I’m afraid I’m not a very strong man.” (4).png

I sat down with my friend Gemma Snow to catch up and talk about her new release.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hello! My name is Gemma and I write erotic romance novels with heroines that get the love, support and communication we all deserve in our relationships, no matter what kind of relationships they may be!

I moved from the New York City area to Nashville last month and I’m loving exploring this wild city – expect a music-themed romance story coming soon! I have an adorable red-headed kitty named Vinnie for Vincent Van Gogh because when we adopted him he was missing part of his ear, and I said goodbye to a fluffy mutt named Houdini when we moved. (My family has an obvious attraction to historical figures…)

I love reading, of course! I bake all the time and constantly binge Great British Baking Show. I’m an outdoorsy person with a love of hiking, kayaking, camping, yoga, the whole nine. (But you just moved to a city! Oh ya, I know… ) “You’re the Top” from Anything Goes has been stuck in my head for three weeks straight.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?

I kind of feel like I’m cheating when I answer this question! I’m lucky – my mom was a creative writing and poetry teacher for kids and young adults, so I got a start on formal writing training when I was about eight years old – and never stopped! I published my first poetry chapbook in high school, (let’s pretend I didn’t, ya?) and studied journalism and publishing in college. My first romance novel came out my senior year, so about four and a half years ago. It’s been a whirlwind!

How did you choose the genre you write in?

Romance definitely chose me. I’ve always loved reading it and the older I got, the more I questioned why that was a bad thing. Romance has been so consistently denigrated over the years and it didn’t really occur to me that I was allowed to just start writing it until I essentially just started writing it. At the time, I was a huge FanFiction nut and wrote stories a lot. It was an obvious evolution.

Where do you get your ideas?

It’s more a matter of where I don’t get my ideas! I love getting lost, working with kids, watching weird documentaries. All these out of the box moments can spark who plots or universes. I’ve outlined an entire series just from looking at a house on the market. Writing ideas come from any and everywhere because romance is universal and all around us.

Do you ever experience writer’s block?

I try not to think of it as writer’s block. When a book is challenging me or the scene doesn’t seem to be coming together, there’s usually a reason for it. Sometimes I don’t know my characters well enough or I need to do more research. Sometimes the plot needs reconfiguring. If I’m having trouble writing, figuring out why will make the book better. And if it’s a really off day, there are always social media posts to write or other branding things to work on.

Do you work with an outline, or just write?

I’m a major outliner – I need a guide or the story will wander forever. It’s awesome that I’ve always had an easy time writing quickly, but without a guide, that usually means I end up with 200 pages of just words. So I usually outline pretty deep into the series before I ever get started. Chances are I’ll deviate, but it gives me a place to start.

Can you tell us about your upcoming book?

Yes! Wild Flowers is book two in the Triple Diamond series, set on a ranch in Montana. I really loved writing this story because my heroine, Lily, is a horticultural biologist and often struggles with compartmentalizing science and emotion. I love the idea of working out in nature and also two hunky mountain men, so I had a lot of fun writing this story.

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

Pure fantasy! In fact, when I first started this series, I knew nothing about Montana. I found this great real estate website selling luxury ranches with like ten-minute tour videos, so I got a crash course in ranch life. For this book, I had to learn a lot about horticultural biology – helps when your mom is an organic gardener! Also, I dug into the world of S & R and learned a lot about the history of Native American reservations in Montana and the active communities today. I did not do any first-hand research into ménages…

What project are you working on now?

Wild Flowers is actually book two in the Triple Diamond series and set in the fall. Book one, The Lovin’ Is Easy, is set in summer. Book three is winter and should be coming out in January and I have to start book four, the spring story! I’m definitely going to miss Wolf Creek when this series is over! I also have a cool new project that is neither ménage nor set in Montana but features a lot of ballrooms and badly behaved dukes. That manuscript is my current work in progress.

Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?

It’s two-fold. The obvious one is write. That’s the one you’ll hear a lot when you first get started and for good reason. It’s easy to imagine being a fancy writer in her gilded castle, but in order to do that you have to write, often, well and again. Writing is like, the whole thing of being a writer.

But beyond that and more in line with things I wish someone had told me, treat writing like a business. Yes, it’s your artistic passion. Yes, you get to create worlds and tell stories and people will love you for it. But treat it like work. Go to work, whether it’s full-time or first thing in the morning or late at night. Save all your receipts. Make yourself a brand. The earlier on you treat writing like a business, the more successful your business will be.

Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Only thank you! Honestly, I could not do it without you. Thank you.
